MHA Hosts Successful Virtual Care Models Webinar

The MHA hosted nearly 100 healthcare staff in patient experience, nursing, quality and human resources roles May 2 during the webinar Virtual Care Models that Improve Engagement and Support Staff.

Representatives from Henry Ford Health and Trinity Health Grand Rapids outlined the design and interface of virtual care models among technology, care teams and the patient, and outcomes demonstrating the value of virtual care to both staff and patients. The webinar also highlights the MHA Person & Family Engagement Roadmap, which features research and tools proven to re-engage patients and improve person and family engagement.

An additional webinar, Recruitment Models that Grow a Strong and Patient-Centered Workforce,  is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. May 30. This webinar will outline nursing internship and patient care tech programs that help students and employees gain clinical experience and makes new and veteran employees feel valued. It will also review a program designed for high school students to excite them about the possible careers in clinical and nonclinical healthcare positions, and the value of building trusting relationships and emotional support with patients and families. MHA Excellence in Governance Fellowship Receives High Praise

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024-2025 Excellence in Governance Fellowship, which will be held from October 2024 through June 2025.

Latest AHA Trustee Insights Focuses on Importance of Children’s Health

The April edition of Trustee Insights, the monthly digital package from the American Hospital Association (AHA), focuses on the value nurse leaders bring to the governing board. An article outlines information from several studies citing how nurses promote health equity and assist boards in achieving oversight compliance requirements with the National Patient Safety Goals, The Joint Commission Leadership Standards and the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services Conditions of Participation.

Applications Open for Excellence in Governance Fellowship

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024-2025 Excellence in Governance Fellowship, which will be held from October 2024 through June 2025. The MHA Excellence in Governance Fellowship is a rigorous and comprehensive program delivering tools and knowledge to help trustees understand how they can help leaders navigate challenging economic conditions, persistent workforce pressures and the safety of frontline caregivers.

The fellowship encompasses strategic areas: principles of effective governance, improving quality and patient safety, building collaborative medical staff partnerships and building strong relationships with the community and stakeholders. The sessions are led by experts in governance with a healthcare background.

With the busy schedules of board members in mind, fellows will meet three times a year in-person at the MHA headquarters in Okemos and through virtual sessions.
