In addition to helping restore and support good health, healthcare-related practices and organizations provided more than 1 million direct jobs in Michigan in 2024, contributing $85 billion a year in wages, salaries and benefits and an additional $25.1 billion a year in tax revenue. Hospitals alone provide roughly 222,000 of those jobs and $11.3 billion a year in tax revenue, representing 45% of healthcare’s direct tax revenue and remaining the largest healthcare sector in the state.
