The MHA provides resources to help trustees lead in improving healthcare quality, lowering costs and building a healthier Michigan.
Health system and hospital trustees play a unique role in supporting the health of the communities they serve and upholding high standards for the state’s healthcare facilities. By supporting these leaders, the MHA is supporting its members as they drive innovation to improve healthcare quality and lower costs.
The MHA offers programs and resources intended to support new and currently serving healthcare trustees and other executives as they lead the way to a healthier Michigan.

The MHA, other state hospital associations and governWellâ„¢ collaborated to create Speaking Health Careâ„¢, a guide designed to help hospital and health system trustees better understand the complex and often confusing language used in healthcare. The glossary includes over 1,000 words with acronyms that are often used in briefings, documents and discussions in the boardroom.
To assist hospitals and health systems in ensuring their trustees are active, engaged and informed, the MHA designed a comprehensive governance leadership fellowship.
