Regulatory Issues
The MHA works closely with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and other state and federal agencies on regulatory issues important to Michigan hospitals and health systems. Two issues that remain priorities for the MHA include Michigan’s auto no-fault system and the state’s Certificate of Need (CON) program.
Since changes to Michigan’s auto no-fault insurance law were signed into law in May 2019, the MHA has been focused on reforms that address consistency and clarity in reimbursement methodology. The MHA is a strong proponent of CON as it ensures high-quality, accessible, cost-effective care for patients in Michigan.
Members with regulatory questions should contact the MHA Advocacy department.
