MHA Webinar Focuses on Crisis Events

Crisis events are unpredictable and often present unique challenges in healthcare. The MHA is convening healthcare and community leaders virtually from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Aug. 25 to exchange ideas and resources for crisis events during the MHA webinar Mass Casualty Response.

This webinar will be an opportunity for healthcare leaders and clinicians to share best practices that prepare hospital teams for unpredictable, tragic events. The conversation will be led by a panel of healthcare leaders including: Amy Brown, MSN, RN, vice president and chief nursing officer at Sparrow Hospital; Denny Martin, DO, chief medical officer at Sparrow Hospital; Jason Pasley, MD, trauma medical director at McLaren Oakland and professor of surgery at Michigan State University; and Michael Weiner, DO, chief medical officer at Michigan State University.

The panel will cover many areas, including:

  • Trauma team representation and incident command systems.
  • Emergency department, surgery and other unit preparation.
  • Hospital security response methods.
  • Support resources for families, staff, friends and community leaders.
  • Public messaging and hotlines.
  • Lessons learned and how those affected move forward.

MHA members can register for the webinar at no cost. Members with registration questions should contact Brenda Carr at the MHA.
