LARA Task Force On FTMPs Releases Report

In a response to the growing need for qualified healthcare professionals, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) released a comprehensive report aimed at addressing the challenges faced by Foreign Trained Medical Professionals (FTMPs) seeking licensure. The task force brought together representatives from state government, higher education, healthcare and the MHA to collaborate and share recommendations to support foreign trained individuals seeking licensure in Michigan.

The report serves as a roadmap for Michigan, offering strategic recommendations to bridge the healthcare occupation gap. The objective is to ensure highly qualified individuals can practice in Michigan at a level commensurate with their education and training. Notably, the report acknowledges that Michigan is not alone in these challenges, as states across the nation are aggressively turning to FTMPs to address critical talent shortages in various healthcare professions.
