The MHA will host an informational webinar from noon to 12:45 p.m. Nov. 24 featuring 211, in the first session of the Health Access & Community Impact Office Hours series. The series is designed to connect hospital teams working to bridge the gap between healthcare and community services by sharing strategies, exchanging insights and collaborating on issues affecting community health. Additional dates and details will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Nov. 24 webinar will focus on 211’s role in addressing food assistance amid the current impact of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and other food access programs. Sarah Kile, director of community and partner engagement, Michigan 211, will provide an overview of the 211 system and its function in connecting individuals to essential community services, including food access. Kile will also outline what hospitals and healthcare staff can expect when coordinating with 211 on regional needs.
The MHA is scheduling additional sessions with 211 to review regional data collected from recent calls. Members are encouraged to register for the webinar, join the conversation and share with colleagues overseeing community support efforts.
Members are encouraged to review the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services’ Nov. 10 press release for updated information on SNAP benefits and state support efforts.
Members with questions may contact Ewa Panetta, director of community health impact and engagement at the MHA.
