The MHA Keystone Center is hosting the Identifying and Engaging Family Caregivers Webinar at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 6. The event, facilitated by RUSH University’s Center for Excellence in Aging, is free to MHA members.
Family caregivers of older adults are vital partners in the health and healthcare of older adult care recipients. However, the vast majority of caregivers indicate they have not received training on care provision, are seldom asked by providers about their own needs and often live with significant physical and mental health concerns as a result. The webinar will discuss practical strategies for identifying and engaging family caregivers within the health system and demonstrate sustainable pathways to support family caregivers.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Describe common challenges for caregivers of older adults.
- Apply practical ways to identify caregivers of older adults within healthcare systems.
- Evaluate strategies to promote caregiver engagement.
- Recognize the business case for engaging and supporting caregivers of older adults.
Members are encouraged to register.
Members with questions about the webinar or caregiver support resources can contact Josh Suire at the MHA Keystone Center.
