"I chose nursing because I had a strong desire to serve and make a difference in how we care for our patients and the community," says Jodi Stein, MSN, RN, chief nursing officer at McLaren Greater Lansing. "I have a family history of nurses, most importantly my mother, who had a profound impact on why I became a nurse. Her oncology career helped me realize how vital empathy, respect and advocacy are when caring for a patient. “What I love most about this work is the intrinsic motivation that I receive when patients are comforted and more at peace during their most vulnerable moments due to their nursing care they received,” said Lull. “I value responsibility and if I was involved directly or indirectly with their care, I am accountable, and that keeps me in a constant state of process improvement. Circumstances vary every day with patient care and it keeps me energized and enthusiastic to work with the whole care team keeping the patient in the center of all decision-making.”
