Bill Jackson, who was senior vice president and chief financial officer at the MHA from 2013 until his recent retirement, passed away Oct. 10 following a year-long battle with cancer. The former CEO of Charlevoix Area Hospital (now Munson Charlevoix Hospital), Jackson had a long history with the MHA. He was chairman of the MHA Board of Trustees during the 2012-2013 program year and served on the board and its executive committee for several years.
“The MHA family lost a wonderful colleague, friend and hospital champion in Bill Jackson,” said MHA CEO Brian Peters. “Bill dedicated his career to taking care of communities, and we at the MHA, his family and the state of Michigan were lucky to have him on our sides. We miss Bill and send our thoughts and prayers to his family.”
Over the years, Jackson also lent his expertise to the association by serving on the MHA Keystone Center Board of Directors, the MHA Business Advisory Council, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Participating Hospital Agreement Advisory Committee and the MHA Small or Rural Hospital Council, among others. He was a member of the HPS, Inc., board of directors and chairman of the MHA Reinsurance and Casualty LTD.
A certified public accountant, Jackson also worked in financial services for Lapeer County General Hospital and was a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Michigan Association of CPAs.
Jackson was a proud graduate of Michigan State University and a dedicated family man who greatly enjoyed spending time with his wife Sharon and their children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Due to the pandemic, a memorial service is not planned at this time. His family has indicated that donations in Jackson’s memory may be made to the Charlevoix Area Humane Society.
