Rural healthcare leaders, educators and industry experts came together Oct. 27 in Marquette for the UP Fall Healthcare Cybersecurity Summit. The event covered incident preparedness, threat intelligence, community collaboration and more.

The UP Fall Healthcare Cybersecurity Summit was hosted at Northern Michigan University on Oct. 27.
The MHA hosted the summit alongside Endorsed Business Partner CyberForce|Q, the Michigan Healthcare Cybersecurity Council and the Upper Peninsula Cybersecurity Institute at Northern Michigan University (NMU). The event included a tabletop session that explored how rural hospital leaders make decisions during a real-world cybersecurity incident. It offered insight and technical details on navigating hospital operations, patient care and organizational stability. Â
Attendees were given the opportunity to strengthen relationships and network with members of the FBI, Michigan State Police Cyber Command Center and colleagues across the state. Additionally, NMU students pursuing degrees in information assurance and cyber defense were able to participate in a career Q&A session with cybersecurity professionals. Â
Coverage from the event is available from WLUC-TV. Members interested in learning more about MHA’s partnership with CyberForce|Q may contact Kirsten Roth, business development, CyberForce|Q. Members interested in future tabletop exercises may contact Rob Wood at the MHA.
