Michigan Hospitals Offered Complimentary Food Waste Assessment

Michigan hospitals are being offered a complimentary food waste assessment by the teams at Make Food Not Waste.

In an effort to cut food waste in half by 2030, the assessment includes meeting with food service team members to review kitchen operations and see how food is purchased, stored, prepared, served and discarded. Afterwards, the hospital receives recommendations from the nonprofit for reducing waste and cutting costs.

For those interested in additional support, Make Food Not Waste can also help with staff training, implementing best practices, food donations and alternatives to landfilling food scraps.

Make Food Not Waste aims to help households, communities, schools and businesses waste less through practical education, technical assistance and regional campaigns that make better use of food simple and achievable.

Hospitals interested in scheduling a complimentary assessment or learning more are encouraged to visit the Make Food Not Waste webpage or contact the MHA policy department.
