News to Know – Oct. 5, 2026

  • The American Hospital Association (AHA) is accepting applications by noon CT Oct. 8 for the 2027 AHA Dick Davidson NOVA Award. The award recognizes hospital-community partnerships that improve community health and eligible AHA member hospitals are encouraged to apply. MHA members with questions may contact the AHA.
  • The deadline to register to vote by mail or online for the November General Election is Oct. 19. The MHA has a series of election resources, including free, laminated posters, available for members on the MHA Elections webpage.
  • Registration is open for the UP Fall Healthcare Cybersecurity Summit that will be held in-person on Oct. 27 at Northern Michigan University in Marquette. The MHA is partnering with the Michigan Healthcare Cybersecurity Council, MHA Endorsed Business Partner CyberForce|Q and leading cybersecurity experts for the summit designed specifically for rural hospital executive leaders and their teams. The event will provide a day of learning, collaboration and exploration of real-world solutions to strengthen cybersecurity across Michigan. Members and guests are encouraged to register as soon as possible, as seating is limited.
  • The MHA Keystone Center recently launched hospital engagement calls to connect directly with member hospitals about quality improvement priorities, patient safety initiatives, challenges and successes. Insights from the conversations will help inform future programming, technical assistance, educational offerings and collaborative opportunities. Hospitals interested in scheduling an engagement call may contact the MHA Keystone Center.
