The MHA is partnering with the Michigan Healthcare Cybersecurity Council, MHA Endorsed Business Partner CyberForce|Q and leading cybersecurity experts to offer a free, in-person UP Fall Healthcare Cybersecurity Summit from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET, Oct. 27, 2026. The event is being held at the Northern Center at Northern Michigan University in Marquette. This summit is designed specifically for rural hospital executive leaders and their teams, providing a day of learning, collaboration and exploration of real-world solutions to strengthen cybersecurity across Michigan.

The summit will include: 

• A healthcare cybersecurity threat briefing, covering current threats, trends and what’s next for Michigan. 

• An incident tabletop exercise, allowing attendees to practice, discuss and strengthen their preparedness. 

• A panel discussion addressing challenges and successes in healthcare cybersecurity. 

• Providing practical solutions and insights from industry leaders and healthcare peers. 

• Networking and partnerships to build connections to strengthen Michigan’s healthcare community. 

In addition to representation from CyberForce|Q, presenters will include Andy Brush from the University of Michigan-Michigan Medicine and Tarek Sasy from the Michigan State Police Cyber Command Center (MC3), along with leading cybersecurity experts. 

The summit will feature a tabletop exercise where participants will: 

• Explore how rural hospital leadership teams make decisions during a realistic cybersecurity incident—focusing not on IT details, but on hospital operations, patient care and organizational stability. 

• Walk through real-world challenges related to operational continuity, risk management and internal and external communication. 

• Gain insight into how leadership actions shape outcomes during stressful situations. 

Members and guests are encouraged to register as soon as possible, as seating is limited for this in-person event Registrations will be accepted up to one week before the event date if space is available. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, with a reception available after the event.
