Registration is now open for the MHA Keystone Center Safety & Quality Symposium, scheduled for Oct. 14 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lansing.
Headlining the event are Bryan Sexton, PhD, medical associate professor, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Duke University School of Medicine,and director, Duke Center for the Advancement of Well-being Science; and Brian Uridge, MPA, CPP, CHPA, CTM, DPSS senior director, Safety and Security, Michigan Medicine.
Sexton will share research on the prevalence and impact of workplace violence, six types of challenging events, the data behind common assumptions and interventions proven to reduce violence. Uridge will outline the roles trust, training and technology play in aligning people and policies to create safer environments.
Additional sessions focus on helping managers recognize signs of employee distress and implement psychological first aid and incident stress management; uncover hidden safety risks and develop action plans for improvement; and create accountability to reduce workplace violence.
The symposium is designed for clinical teams across the continuum of care, quality and safety professionals and healthcare executives. This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ and ANCC contact hours.
