News to Know – Aug. 31, 2026

  • MHA offices will be closed and no formal meetings will be scheduled Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day.
  • MHA Monday Report will not be published Sept. 7 and will resume Sept. 14. Member alerts and MHA Newsroom articles will continue to be published as needed to keep members informed of important news and advocacy updates.
  • The MHA Keystone Center recently launched hospital engagement calls to connect directly with member hospitals about quality improvement priorities, patient safety initiatives, challenges and successes. Insights from the conversations will help inform future programming, technical assistance, educational offerings and collaborative opportunities. Hospitals interested in scheduling an engagement call may contact the MHA Keystone Center.
  • Registration is open until Oct. 2 for the MHA Keystone Center Safety & Quality Symposium, scheduled for Oct. 14 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lansing. The event will bring healthcare professionals together to explore strategies for advancing patient safety, quality and workforce safety. A preconference session on Oct. 13 will explore how hospital K-9 teams can enhance security, deter violence and support staff.
  • Sponsorship opportunities for the 2026 MHA Keystone Center Safety & Quality Symposium are available through Sept. 9. The Oct. 14 event offers sponsors a chance to connect with hospital leaders and showcase solutions that support safe, high-quality care. Organizations interested in sponsorship opportunities may contact Erica Leyko at the MHA.
  • The American Hospital Association (AHA) is accepting applications for the 2027 AHA Dick Davidson NOVA Award, recognizing hospital-community partnerships that improve community health. Eligible AHA member hospitals are encouraged to apply by noon CT Oct. 8. MHA members with questions may contact the AHA.
