News to Know – Aug. 3, 2026

  • The 2026 Primary Election is Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Those unable to vote in-person due to an unexpected hospitalization, physical disability, illness or death in the family are encouraged to contact their local clerk’s office to request an emergency absentee ballot. Visit the MHA Elections webpage for additional resources, including materials designed to help hospitals uplift how voting helps protect access to care and ensures state leaders prioritize what’s in the best interest of Michigan’s healthcare community and those they serve.   • Nominations for the 2026 Advancing Safe Care Award are due Aug. 14. The award recognizes organizations leading efforts to prevent workplace violence and improve employee safety, with the recipient to be recognized at the MHA Keystone Center Safety & Quality Symposium Oct. 14 in Lansing. For more information about the Advancing Safe Care Award or the MHA Keystone Center Safety & Quality Symposium, contact Erica Leyko at the MHA.
  • Registration is open for the 2026 MHA Keystone Center Safety & Quality Symposium, scheduled for Oct. 14 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lansing.
