MHA Leaders Strengthen West Michigan Business Connections

Laura Appel, executive vice president of government relations and public policy

MHA leaders attended the Grand Rapids Chamber Leading Partner Celebration Oct. 14, a celebration that brings together Grand Rapids Chamber members. The MHA’s Grand Rapids Chamber participation reinforces the association’s commitment to collaboration with Michigan’s business community.

Laura Appel, executive vice president of government relations and public policy; John Karasinski, vice president of communications; and Katelin Wiersma, senior director of marketing & branding, represented the MHA at the event. The celebration recognized organizations investing in the Grand Rapids Chamber and in a stronger, more inclusive West Michigan through advocacy, leadership and business growth.

Engagement with business leaders is vital as hospitals and health systems address challenges that affect employers and communities, including healthcare affordability, workforce shortages and access to care. These relationships give the MHA valuable insight into the experiences of Michigan employers while creating opportunities to share the healthcare perspective and identify common priorities.

By participating in forums that bring together leaders from multiple sectors, the MHA strengthens partnerships that can support healthier communities, a strong workforce and continued economic vitality across Michigan. Members with questions about the event may contact the MHA communications department.
