Changes to Medicaid eligibility and renewal requirements beginning in 2027 are expected to create new challenges for many Michiganders. For thousands of Northern Michigan residents, this could mean losing access to medications, preventive care or ongoing treatment.
While some may remain eligible for coverage, missed paperwork, renewal deadlines, or confusion about the new requirements could place healthcare coverage at risk. To help patients navigate these changes and maintain access to care, Munson Healthcare launched a Medicaid support initiative featuring a dedicated support line, online resources and community outreach.
Maintaining health coverage helps individuals access preventive screenings, manage chronic conditions, and obtain medications. Munson’s initiative is designed to remove barriers, reduce confusion, and ensure patients have trusted local resources available when questions arise.
Community members who have questions or need assistance can call 231-935-2860 and press one to connect directly with Medicaid enrollment and renewal support specialists. Resources, FAQs, eligibility guidance, and additional information are also available at munsonhealthcare.org/medicaid.
Through this initiative, Munson Healthcare will provide:
“By connecting patients with the right information and support, we can help more families remain covered and focus on what matters most: their health and well-being,” said Ness.
