Hospital CEOs Highlight Value of Governance Fellowship

Applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 Excellence in Governance Fellowship, scheduled from October 2026 through June 2027.

Chief executive officers who sponsored their board members to participate in the fellowship, as well as program graduates, expressed high praise for the fellowship, as demonstrated in this testimonial video. The fellowship teaches trustees about the principles of effective governance, oversight of financial, strategic and quality goals, systems to measure and monitor performance, hospital-physician alignment and changing reimbursement models, as well as sustaining access to healthcare services and creating accountability, consistency and reliability.

Fellows will meet three times a year in person at the MHA headquarters in Okemos and through virtual sessions.

The fellowship is recommended for board members ascending to the executive committee and seeking to strengthen their leadership skills, as well as for newer board members who need to understand the complexity of healthcare.
