Registration is open for the 2026 MHA Communications Retreat, taking place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 21 at the MSU Federal Credit Union Headquarters Building 2 in East Lansing. The daylong event will bring together communications, marketing, public relations and community relations professionals from Michigan hospitals and health systems for peer learning, networking and practical discussion.
The agenda will open with an update from MHA CEO Brian Peters on state and federal healthcare priorities and the evolving environment facing Michigan hospitals. Thanks to past attendee feedback, panel discussions will explore strategies to foster trust with employees and communities, strengthen hospital brands, address misconceptions and communicate the value hospitals provide.
Attendees will also participate in the “One Cool Thing” member-sharing activity. Michelle Fields, CEO, AI Mentors, will lead an interactive workshop featuring Microsoft Copilot demonstrations, healthcare communications use cases and practical strategies for integrating artificial intelligence into content creation, planning and daily workflows.
The retreat is designed to provide professionals at all experience levels with actionable ideas, stronger peer connections and tools they can immediately apply within their organizations. Members should register by Oct. 2 to reserve a spot; additional details are on the event webpage.
The registration fee is $75 per person and includes breakfast, refreshments and lunch. A 10% group discount is available to any MHA member organization registering five or more attendees; to register a group, contact Ellie Droste at the MHA.
Questions regarding the retreat should be directed to John Karasinski at the MHA.
