The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is seeking feedback from Medicaid Health Plan (MHP) network providers on referrals to Community Mental Health Service Programs (CMHSPs) for specialty mental health services. Providers are encouraged to complete the 10-minute survey by Sept. 21, 2026.
The MDHHS is conducting the survey as part of broader efforts to strengthen coordination between MHPs, CMHSPs and Prepaid Inpatient Health Plans (PIHPs), including referral pathways for beneficiaries whose needs may escalate or change between delivery systems.
The survey seeks feedback on current referral processes, including provider experiences, challenges and opportunities for improvement. The MDHHS is also seeking input on the potential expansion of referrals within Care Connect 360 (CC360), a web-based care coordination platform currently used by MHPs, PIHPs and CMHSPs. The department is seeking feedback on whether greater referral visibility through CC360 would benefit clinicians, provider organizations and Medicaid beneficiaries.
The MHA encourages MHP network providers to complete the survey and share their experiences with referral processes, including concerns, barriers and recommendations related to timely access to care, continuity of care, communication, administrative burden and the potential expansion of CC360 access.
Members are also encouraged to share the survey with appropriate clinical, care coordination and referral staff within their organizations.
Members with questions may contact Lenise Freeman at the MHA.
