The Future of Acute Care Hospital is Focus of Webinar

In the initial months of the pandemic, the lack of a coordinated federal response stressed the nation’s healthcare delivery system. Market fragmentation was visible as hospitals dealt with staff and supply shortages and operating at capacity amid financial uncertainty. As surging COVID-19 cases diminished, it became clear that all but the most acute care was shifting out of the hospital setting. Therefore, hospital leaders and boards need to consider some new inpatient and outpatient strategies for the next several months.

To assist hospitals in developing these strategies, MHA Endorsed Business Partner Juniper Advisory is offering a free webinar titled The Future of Acute Care Hospitals. Rex Burgdorfer, Juniper’s managing director, will outline examples of large-scale consolidation designed to optimize clinical services, population health capabilities and operational scale, ways neighboring hospitals are working together to improve efficiency in serving the same communities, and integrated affiliation structures that stop just short of an acquisition or consolidation.

The webinar will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 20. Chief executive and financial officers, health plan and network administrators, population health and clinical care services directors, and governing board members are encouraged to attend. The webinar is free to MHA members, but registration is required. Members with questions should contact Erin Steward at the MHA.
