Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of March 9:

  • The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) is celebrating Patient Safety Awareness Week March 8 through 14 (see related article). The annual observance highlights the importance of patient safety, celebrates the progress being made to improve care and focuses on issues facing healthcare teams. The MHA Keystone Center and other participants will use the hashtag #PSAW20 to partake in a Twitter chat from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday with the IHI and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to discuss care transitions.   • The MHA Michigan Green Healthcare Committee will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at MHA headquarters, Okemos. The Committee will engage in a strategic planning session to discuss short- and long-term goals of the committee to improve healing environments inside hospital facilities and elevate the health of the communities they serve.   • As part of the webinar series from the MHA Endorsed Business Partner program, a webinar titled 340B Regulatory Update – Past, Present and Future will be hosted with SUNRx from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday. Special guest speaker Jeff Davis of Baker Donelson will present regulatory and compliance insights for safety-net hospitals to consider when managing their 340B programs.   • The 2020 Patient Safety Organization (PSO) Annual Meeting will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the VisTaTech Center – Schoolcraft College, Livonia. PSO members may attend in-person or virtually. The meeting will feature MHA Keystone Center PSO updates and education for MHA Keystone Center PSO members.
