Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of Feb. 3:

  • The MHA will host a webinar titled Transforming the Healthcare Financial Experience featuring MHA Endorsed Business Partner (EBP) CommerceHealthcare at 11 a.m. ET Wednesday. The session is part of a series of webinars highlighting the cutting-edge and cost-effective solutions available to Michigan hospitals through the EBP program. The MHA has partnered with CommerceHealthcare for over a decade with its healthcare accounts payable program. The webinar will cover new ways to find cost savings, create new revenue streams, improve patient financing, leverage new technology and foster greater patient loyalty. The webinar is offered free of charge, but registration is required.

  • The MHA Keystone Center Board of Directors will meet from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at MHA Headquarters, Okemos. The board will receive information on Implementation Science Certification, including an overview and recap of its launch, as well as plans for the future. For more information, contact Brittany Bogan with the MHA.

  • The MHA is coordinating an educational webinar from 1:30-3 p.m. Feb. 24 with Myers and Stauffer, Michigan’s audit contractors for the federally mandated Medicaid disproportionate share hospital (DSH) audits. DSH audits for fiscal year 2017 are expected to begin in late February, with information due to Myers and Stauffer one month later. Registration is not required for the webinar. Hospital staff are encouraged to review the general Medicaid DSH audit information provided by Myers and Stauffer prior to the webinar and submit questions to Crystal Mitchell at the MHA, so they can be addressed during the session. The Feb. 24 webinar will focus on details that are specific to Michigan and will offer a question and answer session. Members with questions regarding the Medicaid DSH program or audits should contact Vickie Kunz at the MHA.
