MHA CEO Brian Peters presents check to Dr. Phil Knight, executive director of the Food Bank Council of Michigan.

In his remarks at the 2021 Michigan Harvest Gathering news conference kickoff, MHA CEO Brian Peters noted the negative impact food insecurity has on health and how Michigan hospitals, for the 24th consecutive year, are supporting the Michigan Harvest Gathering. At the kickoff, Peters was joined by the executive director of the Food Bank Council of Michigan and the president and CEO of the Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association.

Michigan Harvest Gathering campaigns are underway at many Michigan hospitals, with those efforts running through Nov. 12. Hospital employees and community members can make online donations to the Michigan Harvest Gathering program through the Food Bank Council of Michigan’s website. Hospitals and health systems can also conduct local food drives with their community partners and report the total food collected or financial donations received for the Michigan Harvest Gathering to Erica Leyko at the MHA. The MHA will issue a final report on the contributions of the association and its members.

Questions about the Michigan Harvest Gathering should be directed to Erin Steward at the MHA.
