The Michigan Harvest Gathering (MHG), a one-of-a-kind emergency food program supported by Michigan hospitals, the Food Bank Council of Michigan’s member food banks and more than 3,000 community agencies, will virtually kick off Oct. 20.
The pandemic has caused major hardship. Since mid-March, food distribution through Michigan’s food banks has doubled, averaging 4.5 million pounds of food per week.
To confirm support, members are asked to submit a project leader designation form through the association’s MHG webpage. This year’s campaign is fully virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the key responsibilities of a project leader will be to plan and carry out virtual fund drives. More details about how hospitals can generate online donations for their community and a virtual training for project leaders will be coming soon.
Questions on the Michigan Harvest Gathering should be directed to Erin Steward at the MHA.
