The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services hosted a press event June 23 on the planned introduction of bills that will expand access to services to combat the opioid epidemic, including a bill that will expand the availability of medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) in hospital emergency rooms.
MHA CEO Brian Peters provided a quote in the news release that was issued in conjunction with the event.
“Michigan hospitals are committed to being part of the solution to the opioid epidemic that has impacted every community in Michigan,” said Peters. “These available resources for hospitals to provide MOUDs within their communities will help ensure patients receive the most appropriate care and treatment for their individual healthcare needs.”
Media outlets that covered the announcement include WNEM TV5, WLUC-TV6 and The Center Square.
