To address the lack of data on LGBTQ+ patients and address health inequities, the Michigan Public Health Institute and the MHA Keystone Center are hosting a webinar titled LGBTQ+ Informed Care: It Starts with Data from 10 to 11 a.m. Aug. 19.
Experts on this topic will present on the need for healthcare organizations to collect patient demographic information securely and consistently to effectively address LGBTQ+ health issues and disparities. Speakers include Mixhi Marquis, LMT, executive director and co-founder, Mosaic Health & Healing Arts</a>; Judy Lewis, training and education manager, SAGE Metro Detroit</a>; and MaryJo Schnell, executive director, OutCenter of Southwest Michigan.
The event speakers will also discuss the significant amount of work that remains to protect LGBTQ+ Michiganders from discrimination in healthcare, particularly in rural and small-town communities.
