The MHA’s highest achievement award was bestowed June 27 upon Paul E. LaCasse, DO, MPH, former executive vice president of post-acute care and diversified business operations at Southfield-based Beaumont Health.
During the MHA Annual Membership Meeting held June 26-28, the MHA honored four individuals with its Special Recognition Award for their extensive contributions to healthcare. 
The MHA presented its 2019 Ludwig Community Benefit Award to programs of three member hospitals during the MHA Annual Membership meeting June 27. 
The MHA presented its 2019 Advancing Safe Care Award June 27 to the Grand Rapids-based Spectrum Health sepsis team, which includes Steve Fitch, MD; Nick Kuhl, MD; Kristen Buck, MSN; and Sarah Fisher, MS.
Two Michigan healthcare leaders were honored June 27 with the 2019 MHA Healthcare Leadership Award. The 2019 recipients are Matt Rush, Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital, Charlotte; and Shannon Striebich, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, Pontiac.

Medicare Advantage (MA) enrollment in Michigan totaled approximately 855,000 in April, an increase of 10,000 beneficiaries since January. The April MA enrollment is spread across 36 MA plans that are currently operating in the state.
