Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued 147 line-item vetoes to the state budget Sept. 30, eliminating nearly $1 billion in spending, including $20.2 million in healthcare funding that would make key strides in protecting and improving access and quality of care for Michigan residents.

On Sept. 24, the Michigan Legislature approved Senate Bill (SB) 139, the fiscal year (FY) 2020 conference report for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) budget, which takes significant steps to improve Medicaid reimbursement rates paid to hospitals in Michigan.
