During the first quarter of 2018, data analysis conducted within Bronson LakeView Hospital showed that they had experienced an increase in readmissions from 10.42% to 13.3%.
Ewa Panetta, manager of safety and quality, MHA Keystone Center, testified before the Michigan House Families, Children, and Seniors Committee Feb. 26 to discuss the importance of integrating more age-friendly initiatives into hospitals.
The MHA Keystone Center Patient Safety Organization (PSO) brings together hospitals and safety experts for its annual meeting March 11 at the VisTaTech Center, Livonia.
The MHA Keystone Center has extended to March 11 the deadline for registering for the Implementation Science: Healthcare Performance Improvement Certification Course, offered in conjunction with Vlasic & Roth. 
Feb. 12 marked the halfway point for the MHA Workplace Safety Collaborative’s Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Collaboration calls, which began Oct. 9 and will occur bimonthly through Aug. 12. 
The December 2019 issue of the journal Patient Safety highlights the MHA Keystone Center’s role in reducing adverse drug events (ADEs) in its member hospitals. Three of the article’s authors are currently pharmacists at Spectrum Health, Grand Rapids.
The MHA is working with various state and federal agencies to provide members with current information on the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). 
To recognize Michigan hospitals that are tackling issues daily to make care safer and more dependable, the MHA presents its annual Advancing Safe Care Award.
Health disparities are costly in terms of the economy, lives and productivity. These costs stem from inadequate or poor care to key populations that leads to preventable disease, high rehospitalization rates or premature death. 
Driving Change is a monthly feature that highlights the work of Michigan hospitals and the Great Lakes Partners for Patients Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (GLPP HIIN) and provides resources to guide improvement.
