Michigan Radio: Michigan hospitals call new Republican health care plan "unacceptable"

Posted on September 21, 2017

MHA's Laura AppelMHA Chief Innovation Officer & Senior Vice President Laura Appel was interviewed by Michigan Radio in a Sept. 20 story about Michigan hospitals’ stance on the latest ACA repeal & replace effort, the  Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson bill.

The proposed legislation would jeopardize healthcare coverage for nearly 1 million Michiganders and is expected to go to the Senate floor for a vote the week of Sept. 25.

“This would take billions of dollars away from Michigan’s Medicaid program.  At the same time, it would reduce the protections of the Affordable Care Act,” said Appel.

Talking points and other resources are available on the MHA’s ACA Repeal and Replace webpage. The MHA applauds Michigan Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters for their continued work to protect coverage and access for people in Michigan and is urging members and MiCare Champions to contact their U.S. House member about the proposal.
