Posted on October 29, 2020

MHA CEO Brian PetersWWJ Newsradio 950 aired Oct. 22 an interview with MHA CEO Brian Peters on the increasing rate of COVID-19 related hospitalizations across Michigan.

At the point that the interview aired, hospitalizations had increased by 80% over the prior two weeks. Peters specifically discussed concerns related to higher rates in the Upper Peninsula and increased hospitalizations of younger individuals. Peters also mentioned the increased inventories of personal protective equipment, refined surge plans and improved modalities and treatments that have reduced mortality rates.

“We have been on the front lines since day one in Michigan hospitals, whether in a rural setting or large urban centers” said Peters. “We certainly need the support of our elected officials in terms of relief funding, in terms of protective policy that helps us do our jobs. At the end of the day, we call on the public to do what they need to do in terms of masking and social distancing.”
