Michigan Harvest Gathering Kicks Off with MHA’s $30,000 Contribution

Posted on October 23, 2020

The 2020 Michigan Harvest Gathering virtually kicked off Oct. 20, when MHA CEO Brian Peters joined community partners and presented the MHA’s $30,000 pledge toward Michigan’s emergency food response. The MHA “donation check” is displayed by Witwer, Knight, Peters, Cynthia Schuette, and Bill Schuette.

"Our mission is to advance the health of individuals and communities, and there's no better way to do that — to live that mission — than by participating in the Michigan Harvest Gathering year after year,” said Peters. “Food insecurity exists in every Senate district and every House district, so we have an opportunity here to make a real difference.”

The Food Bank Council of Michigan is accepting donations through its website, which also features a virtual food bank and allows visitors to pick from a menu of items to donate.

Those who weren’t able to attend the virtual event can view the Facebook Live video on the Food Bank Council of Michigan's page. The 30-minute event also included remarks by Dr. Phil Knight of the Food Bank Council, Rep. Angela Witwer, Former Attorney General Bill Schuette, Cynthia Schuette and Sen. Peter MacGregor.

Those with questions may contact Erin Steward or Lucy Ciaramitaro at the MHA.
