Upcoming Virtual Workshops Address Slips, Trips, Falls and Sharps Injuries

The MHA Keystone Center is hosting two virtual workshops in September as part of its statewide Workplace Safety Collaborative. Both workshops are offered free of charge to MHA members.
The webinar Preventing Sharps Injuries will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 15. Key speakers will be Tom Peterson, MD, FAAP, vice president and chief safety officer, Trinity Health, and Ken Smith, CHSP, CIE, CHCM, vice president, HealthCare Safety Services, who will highlight strategies to reduce the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s most common recordable incidents in healthcare.
A Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls Injuries webinar will be offered from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 24. Participants will hear from experts on the following subjects:
- Creating a Successful and Engaging Safety Campaign, presented by Anita Henry, senior content marketing specialist, Munson Healthcare.
- Slips, Trips and Falls Prevention for Hospitals, presented by MaryAnn Northcote, CPP, CHSP, safety and workers' compensation manager, McLaren Health.
- Key Elements and Considerations for a Slip, Trip Optimum Protection Program, presented by Teresa Fisk, CIH, CSP, CIE, CHSP, an independent industrial hygienist specializing in workers' compensation and safety.
Both webinars will include a live demonstration of the workplace safety dashboard, an interactive data reporting tool in the MHA data reporting platform, KeyMetrics.
The MHA launched the ongoing collaborative to address workplace safety in hospitals. A safe and healthy workplace not only protects workers from injury and illness, it can also lower costs, reduce employee turnover, and increase productivity and quality in healthcare.
