MLive: 51,000 Michiganders have recovered from the coronavirus. Hospitals haven’t, yet.

MLive published a story July 4 that reviews the financial challenges Michigan’s hospitals have encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The article focuses on several aspects related to hospitals, including federal funding, lost revenue and increased expenses, and returning patient volume.

Ruthanne Sudderth, senior vice president, public affairs & communications, MHA, is quoted on the important role hospitals have in their communities.

"Families do not want to move to a town without good healthcare and a hospital nearby," said Sudderth. "So both as health care providers and economic drivers, hospitals in those communities are absolutely critical to the long-term health of the people that live there."
