Excellence in Governance Fellowship Prepares Trustees to Lead

Posted on February 20, 2020

Hospital and health system leaders continue to revolutionize their organizations in many ways to better serve patients, attract physicians and achieve success in a challenging environment. This includes growing outpatient strategies and striving for a diverse workforce to meet rising expectations of a multicultural/multigenerational demographic. With its Excellence in Governance Fellowship, the MHA offers the best choice to help prepare board members to excel in performing their vital responsibilities as healthcare organizations navigate this time of change. Applications are currently being accepted for the 2020 – 2021 class, which will be held from October 2020 through June 2021.

The fellowship is a rigorous and comprehensive program delivering tools and knowledge in four strategic areas: principles of effective governance, improving quality and patient safety, building collaborative medical staff partnerships, and building strong relationships with the community and stakeholders. Each of the sessions are led by experts in governance with a healthcare background. Fellows meet in person four times a year at MHA headquarters in Okemos and participate in virtual sessions held in the months when fellows are not meeting in person. This format is designed to give board members a greater opportunity to fit this valuable learning into their busy schedules.

Now entering its 18th year, graduates of the fellowship give it high praise. To further explore this one-of-a-kind offering, contact Erin Steward.
