Webinars Offered on Medicare Topics: Outpatient Final Rule, Occupational Mix Survey

Posted on January 08, 2020

Two webinars on topics related to Medicare are being offered Jan. 22, and the MHA encourages hospital staff to participate in both.

From 10 to 11:30 a.m., the MHA will host a webinar with Comprehensive Reimbursement Inc. to focus on completion of the calendar year 2019 Medicare occupational mix survey. Results of the survey will be used to adjust the Medicare area wage index, which will impact up to 70% of the Medicare payment rates for fiscal years 2022, 2023 and 2024. The completed survey must be submitted to the Medicare Administrative Contractor by July 1, 2020. Register today for this webinar, which is available free of charge for staff of MHA-member organizations.

From 3 to 4 p.m., DataGen will offer a national webinar to review key provisions of the 2020 Medicare outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS) final rule. DataGen is a subsidiary of the Healthcare Association of New York State, which works with the MHA and 47 other state hospital associations. The webinar will also review hospital-specific impact analyses of the final rule, which the MHA plans to distribute Jan. 16. The analyses will incorporate information from a correction notice that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued Dec. 31. The webinar is offered free of charge, but registration is required.

Members should contact Ashley Taylor with questions regarding registration. Questions regarding the occupational mix survey or the 2020 Medicare OPPS final rule should be directed to Vickie Kunz at the MHA.
