Quality Accountability Workshop Helps Boards Understand How to Lead Efforts

Posted on December 05, 2019

There has been a proliferation of efforts to measure how various hospitals and doctors perform, and no one has found the task easy. What processes should be measured? What kinds of changes improve performance? Research has proved that measurement and transparency is key to improvement, but knowing the steps and executing on information learned is critical to create change.

Linking Quality to Strategy and OperationsThe MHA has designed a workshop that will equip board members with these necessary skills. Linking Quality to Strategy and Operations will:

  • Outline what outcomes are measured and why.
  • Review information on value-based purchasing, transparency and pay-for-performance.
  • Explore how to measure progress using dashboards.
  • Examine measures and identify the most appropriate for a specific hospital or health system.
  • Review best practices to assess and monitor quality and increase reliability.

Quality dashboards/scorecards will be reviewed in-depth, and attendees will be asked to meet with the hospital's quality director to review data and bring their quality dashboard/scorecard to the workshop.

The workshop is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 23 at MHA headquarters in Okemos. The registration fee is $195 per person and should be sent with a registration form to Erica Leyko at the MHA. Space is limited, and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Questions about the workshop should be directed to Erica Leyko, and more information about MHA trustee resources is available from Erin Steward at the MHA.
