Michigan Harvest Gathering Project Leaders Needed

Posted on September 05, 2019

It’s time for the Michigan Harvest Gathering (MHG) – a one-of-a-kind emergency food program benefiting hungry Michigan families through the Food Bank Council of Michigan’s (FBCM) member food banks and more than 3,000 community agencies. For more than 20 years, Michigan citizens have benefited from food and donation drives the MHA and Michigan hospitals have undertaken and we ask members to renew their support.

Michigan Harvest GatheringMember hospitals are asked to register project leaders online; a 2019 project leader list will be updated weekly on the MHG webpage as online forms are received. The key responsibilities of a project leader will be to form teams to help plan and carry out food and fund drives, as well as work with regional food banks on transportation.

MHA members are also encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to financially contribute online to the MHG. By giving through FeedMichigan.org, members of the healthcare family can indicate they are donating through the MHA, specify the hospital or health system they are affiliated with, and indicate whether they would like their donation to be designated to a specific FBCM-member food bank. More information is available in the MHA’s MHG Project Leader Handbook.

The official kickoff of the statewide campaign will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 2 at Hunter Park Garden House in Lansing. Complimentary promotional items, including posters and table tents, are also available for order on the MHA Harvest Gathering webpage. Questions on the Michigan Harvest Gathering should be directed to Erin Steward at the MHA.
