Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of Aug. 12: 

  • The MHA Keystone Center Age-Friendly Initiative Recruitment Webinar will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday. The webinar will discuss program requirements and overall framework of the Age-Friendly Health Systems Action Community. For more information, contact the MHA Keystone Center.
  • The Great Lakes Partners for Patients Hospital Improvement Innovation Network Diversity, Inclusion and Cultural Competency: Strategies for Advancing Health Equity event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Grand Traverse Resort near Traverse City. The event will provide participants with key strategies and resources to develop a comprehensive and coordinated approach to reduce healthcare disparities.   • Reimbursement Alliance Group will host a webinar Thursday to review the fiscal year (FY) 2020 Medicare inpatient prospective payment system (IPPS) final rule. The MHA and member hospitals are working with Comprehensive Reimbursement Inc., a member of the Reimbursement Alliance Group, on the FY 2021 Medicare wage index improvement project. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released the IPPS final rule Aug 2, and the webinar will review the finalized changes to Medicare legislation, regulations and payments for FY 2020, which begins Oct. 1, 2019. The webinar is offered free of charge, but registration is required. For more information, contact Vickie Kunz at the MHA.
