Developing the Mindset and Skillset to Improve Safety

Symposium logoClinical teams across the continuum of care, quality and safety professionals, healthcare executives and business leaders are invited to the 2019 MHA Safety & Quality Symposium Sept. 26 at the Detroit Marriott Troy. Attendees are welcome to join in-person or virtually to experience top-level dialogue, design innovative solutions and gain the knowledge needed for better patient outcomes.

A total of 4.75 nursing contact hours have been awarded for this activity by the Michigan Public Health Institute – Continuing Education Solutions (MPHI-CES 6277). Additionally, this event is eligible for up to 4.75 continuing medical education credit, category II. General sessions will be led by national healthcare experts, including:

Amy Edmondson

Amy C. Edmondson, Novartis professor of leadership and management at the Harvard Business School, Boston, who has been ranked by the biannual Thinkers50 global list of top management thinkers since 2011.  

Patrice Weiss

Patrice Weiss, MD, executive vice president and chief medical officer of Carilion Clinic, Roanoke, VA, who is one of the "100 hospital and health system CMOs to know" listed in Becker's Hospital Review.  

Dayna Matthew

Dayna Bowen Mathew, JD, PhD, professor, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, and co-founder of the Colorado Health Equity Project, a medical-legal partnership incubator aimed at removing barriers to good health for low-income clients.

Eric Alberts

Eric Alberts, CEM, corporate manager of emergency preparedness, Orlando (FL) Health, who led the emergency response after the Pulse nightclub tragedy.

Members who will also be attending the MHA Workplace Safety Collaborative: Addressing Violence in Healthcare Settings event at the hotel the previous day (see related article) may wish to reserve an overnight room.
