Detroit News Guest Opinion: Medicare for All Won't Work for Michigan

The Detroit News on May 4 featured a column from MHA Board of Trustees member Rob Casalou, president & CEO, Trinity Health, Michigan Region, highlighting concerns with the growing popularity and call for Medicare-for-all proposals. 

In the piece, Casalou observes that Medicare serves an important purpose, and will continue to do so, but it was never set up to run as a program "for all." He goes on to state that there is a need to step beyond simple slogans and pursue thoughtful, long-lasting and meaningful change when it comes to people's health and well-being. However, Medicare for all is not the answer.
