Health Equity Focus of Upcoming Regional Learning Session
Posted on January 24, 2019
The MHA Keystone Center and the Great Lakes Partners for Patients (GLPP) Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) are seeking to address disparities in healthcare by hosting a regional learning session from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 12. Health disparities are inequities among individuals in social, economic and environmental conditions, and it is currently one of the biggest challenges facing healthcare.
The interactive event will be held at the VisTaTech Center – Schoolcraft College, Livonia. A virtual option is available; however, in-person attendance is strongly recommended as the session will include interactive group activities. The learning session is free of charge, but registration is required.
Featured speaker Sunshine Muse, health disparities consultant, will discuss what health equity and health disparities mean, troubleshoot how best to collect and drive improvement based on data, and share key strategies for addressing identified disparities through community partnerships. Attendees will also engage in cultural competency training and implementation of these practices.
Over the next several months, the MHA Keystone Center will share health equity common misconceptions, important statistics and information on its website and social media channels to increase awareness and educate members. Members with questions should contact the MHA Keystone Center.
