MHA Webinar Series Reviews Updated CMS Conditions of Participation

The MHA Health Foundation webinar series Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services 2019 Conditions of Participation for Hospitals will review in detail newly finalized rules and how to make quick, effective changes to compliance plans.
Part 1 of the series is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 28. This webinar will focus on patients’ rights, including privacy, safety, confidentiality of records, the grievance process, advance directives, participation in the plan of care, and use of restraints or seclusion. Suggestions will be given for effective practices surrounding:
- Restraint and seclusion standards for anyone who directly cares for or transports patients, manages staff, or rewrites hospital policies and medical staff bylaws.
- Staff training for those who work with patients who file nondiscrimination grievances related to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or ability to pay.
- Documenting free interpreter services for patients.
Part 2 of the series is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon March 7 and will focus on nursing and pharmaceutical services.
Part 3 of the series is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon March 21 and will focus on infection control.
