Battle of the Buildings Competition Promotes Energy Savings

Posted on January 17, 2019

Michigan Battle of the BuildingsThe MHA Michigan Green Healthcare Committee and the MHA encourage hospitals and health systems to support the Michigan Battle of the Buildings program, a free energy-reduction competition that is an easy way to identify energy-efficient practices and improve the environmental footprint of healthcare facilities. For organizations that have not previously participated in the competition, March 31 is the deadline to enroll. Buildings that were entered in the 2018 competition will be automatically enrolled in the 2019 contest.

Participants in the competition must report their energy consumption using Energy Star's Portfolio Manager. Data entries will be accepted throughout the campaign program, which ends Dec. 31. Buildings that demonstrate the highest percentage-based reduction in energy use in 2019 will be recognized at the 2020 Energy Summit in Grand Rapids.

Campaign materials and an enrollment form are available online. For additional information, contact Kristen Hammock at the MHA.
