Webinars to Analyze Effects of Medicare Quality-based Programs on Hospitals

Posted on January 15, 2019

The MHA is partnering with DataGen to offer webinars to review the three Medicare quality-based programs and their impact on hospitals. These webinars are available free of charge and are scheduled from 3 to 4 p.m. EST on the following dates:

  • Jan. 30: This webinar will provide an overview of the Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) value-based purchasing program and the analyses that the MHA provides through DataGen following the quarterly release of updated data on Hospital Compare. Online registration is required.
  • Feb. 6: This webinar will provide an overview of the Medicare FFS readmissions reduction and hospital-acquired condition reduction programs, as well as the analyses the MHA provides through DataGen following the release of updated data on Hospital Compare. Online registration is required.

Consistent with past years, in the weeks ahead, the MHA will distribute updated hospital-specific reports that summarize the estimated financial impact and hospital performance for the three Medicare quality-based programs. The reports will follow the release of final FY 2019 program factors by the CMS, which is expected to occur shortly, and will include comparisons to the program results for fiscal years 2017 and 2018.

The MHA and DataGen also hosted a webinar in December to review the 2019 Medicare FFS outpatient prospective payment final rule and the hospital-specific impact analyses that were distributed to hospitals Nov. 28. Materials and a recording are available for those who were unable to participate in the webinar.

Members with questions on these webinars should contact Vickie Kunz at the MHA.
