MHA Service Corporation Board Convenes Inaugural Meeting

The MHA Service Corporation (MHASC) held its initial board meeting with a newly appointed slate of directors Nov. 12. To modernize the organization’s governance model, the board was established to provide oversight and direction for shaping current and future business services to hospitals and other entities in Michigan and beyond. These services provide critical financial support to the MHA in the form of nondues revenue.
The primary mission of the MHASC is delivering innovative solutions that help clients improve value and performance. Although rooted in Michigan, the MHASC helps organizations nationwide on efforts such as unemployment compensation, data services, financial services, talent/career search and endorsed business partnerships. As approved by the MHA Board of Trustees at its Nov. 28 meeting, members of the 2018 MHASC Board of Directors include Brett Furst, founder and CEO, Foresight Ventures, LLC, Lake Orion; Gwen MacKenzie, retired market president, Ascension Health Michigan, Bloomfield Hills; Bill Manns, president, St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor and Livingston, Ann Arbor; Lindsay Peters, director of marketing and development, Eaton Rapids Medical Center; Bill Peterson, vice president of human resources, McLaren Health Care, Grand Blanc; Scott Pillion, CEO, Helen Newberry Joy Hospital, Newberry; Gwen Sandefur, president, Spectrum Health Hospital Group, Grand Rapids; and Dennis Smith, retired CEO, Upper Peninsula Health Plan, Marquette. Officers of the MHASC include Brian Peters, president; Peter Schonfeld, secretary; Bill Jackson, treasurer; and Gwen MacKenzie, who was approved as chair by the MHA Board of Trustees.
