Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of Nov. 5:

  • Election Day is Tuesday. This week’s Race of the Week article, the final in the series, takes a look at the race for Secretary of State. The weekly series examined major statewide races and ballot issues facing voters before the Nov. 6 election. Members can also visit the MHA Election page for additional information or follow the MHA’s Election 2018 coverage on social media using #MIVoteMatters. Members with questions should email election@mha.org.

  • The MHA Keystone Center Patient Safety Organization will host the Outcome Engenuity Just Culture Certification Course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the MHA headquarters. Due to overwhelming response, the MHA Keystone Center is no longer accepting registrations for the course. Contact the MHA Keystone Center to be added to the wait list or for more information.

  • The MHA Health Information Technology Strategy Committee meeting will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the MHA headquarters. This committee identifies and develops strategies to help the MHA and its members with health information technology (HIT) issues by reviewing regulatory and industry trends with significant implications for member hospitals. For more information, contact Jim Lee at the MHA.

  • The Informational Session on New State Licensing and Regulation Platform will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. The session, designed specifically for hospitals, will discuss the transition to the Michigan Professional Licensing User System (MiPlus). The bureau will explain the process for licensing educational limited applicants and ways hospitals can prepare before the new portal is implemented in May 2019. Members may attend the session in-person or via conference call. The event is free, but registration is required. For more information, contact Paige Fults at the MHA.
